Offshore Wind Turbine Repair Robot

This project 64018-0557 is funded by EUDP

The main objective of the project 64018-0557 is to overcome the additional development and logistical challenges associated with maintenance of offshore wind turbines and to demonstrate the functionality of the robot under real offshore conditions.

Rope Robotics has invented and patented the world’s first robot for performing all the phases of wind turbine blade leading edge maintenance and repair fast and reliably without having people performing hazard task from ropes. The robot is able to do:
  • Surface area inspection and documentation
  • Sanding
  • Cleaning
  • Applying leading edge protection (LEP)
  • After repair inspection and documentation
All this is done while the robot attaches itself to the blade with vacuum being remote-controlled by the robot pilot.
